Restoration of Old Photographs
I have done copy and restoration work since the early 70s with film and now with digital, and know how important these hairlooms are to you and how to handle them while in my care to work on them.
Digital photography advancements have made things possible to be done for reasonable cost compared to what the same task required back in the days of film, call 404-375-6280 to discuss your copy and restoration items.
Here is an example of a portrait of a young boy taken over 30 years ago.
Actual repair to the surface of the portrait is never done, the original is returned to the customer in the same condition as it is brought to the studio.
A new digital file is created, and all areas that need to be fixed are corrected on the digital file, and you get the prints that you ordered, and a copy of the digital file that was used to make the prints.
In this example below, the first task was to fix the color, the original 16 x 20 portrait brought to our studio was faded and a overall unpleasant green color.
Once the color was suitable then onto the correction of all the problems that had occurred to the portrait over the years, as well as one created at the time of the child's portrait session 30 years ago.

The little boy was not centered very well in the original portrait. Therefore I needed to make a copy of the portrait allowing enough room on the top and right hand side to work with.
The next step was to remove all the marks, scratches, bends and folds. I then took the added space at the top and right hand edge to balance the boy better in the portrait, and built up the image to match the rest of the portrait, allowing the boy to be better centered in the composition of the portrait.
All this was done on a digital file large enough to make a new 16 x 20 and have it be just as sharp as the original portrait, and then it is printed by my lab on professional photographic paper.
